Happy 1st Birthday Nicolas Bjorn!

A year ago today at 9:34 pm our little Nicolas was born and life was never the same again. It was tough at first. Mommy cried a lot, baby cried a lot, and Daddy kind of took over and tried to make things easier for all of us. Eventually Mommy came out of her funk and realized what a precious little baby she had. The little baby grew up! He started to smile! Mommy and Daddy would get all excited when he would grab a toy! We thought he was the smartest baby in the whole world. Then he started to roll over and soon after started to crawl! Wow, we thought, can it get any better than this? He started to babble in his own little language and we would laugh at how cute he was. Baby cereal was added to his diet, then came the pureed veggies and fruits! Yum, yum! What a mess! He gagged a little when the chunkier foods were introduced (freaking out his Mommy) but he eventually got the hang of it. Drinking from a sippy cup became second nature. He started to pull himself up to the furniture and walked around them! Mommy and Daddy were ecstatic! Soon he was walking all on his own and oh so proud. Today, Mommy and Daddy took Nic to McDonalds for a birthday lunch and he ate his first McDonalds french fries and his first pickle. Today our little guy is a one year old toddler and is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to us. Happy Birthday little son. We love you!!

Pandemonium!

Last Saturday was Nicolas' 1st birthday party and it was CRAZY! We invited quite a few people and almost everyone was able to come! It was so much fun to see the kids running around and playing (or in the case of the kids that can't run around yet, just playing and being super cute). I also thought it was pretty funny how excited kids get about other kids presents. Nic was on his 3rd or 4th wind before he finally went to sleep that night. I am so thankful to everyone who came to the party and brought such nice presents! Nic is enjoying them oh so much! And mama loves the clothes! :)

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

The annoying song continues....How about you, you, you. You can come too, too, too. We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. And it was in my head all day long while we were there! Uugh! Thursday my Mom and I took Nic to the Como Zoo. Man, has that place changed! It had been quite a while since I had been there. Basically the last time I was there the lion was pacing in a little cement cage and Sparky the seal was probably Sparky #1. Also you could get those little plastic figures of lions and gorillas made in that machine for about $.50. Now it costs $2.00! But the zoo is really, really nice now! We had such a fun day and Nic really seemed to enjoy it! He loved looking at the animals and was ecstatic when he saw the Koi fish in the pond at the Conservatory. He also enjoyed babbling away to himself as he checked out all the plants. Pretty funny.

Only 14 more days until Nicolas is offically 1 year old! I am freaking a little about the party coming up. Lots to do before then! But it will be a fun afternoon! My little baby is now a TODDLER!

A fun day at the fair!

We took Nicolas to the fair last Friday. I think he was in awe the entire time we were there. Just staring at everything he could possibly stare at. He really liked the cows, pigs and sheep. And also the cheese curds. Mmmm. Janet, Mark and the kids met us out there and we spent pretty much the whole day walking around and eating. Thank god the fair only comes one time a year, or I would be really chubby.

I also just found out that my good friend Connie and her husband Jack just had their second child, a little girl, today at 9:33 am! Sara Kate is 6 lbs 6 oz and 19" long. Amanda will be a wonderful big sister! Congratulations!
