A baby of many talents

Nic can do many new things!

1. He can clap his hands.
2. He can say "uh oh!" (His first official word! For a while there we thought he could say "Brody" but I think that was wishful thinking.)
3. He can make goofy sounds through a plastic straw. (Very entertaining.)
4. He has already taken his first steps (at 9 months and 1 day) and is moving around the furniture like a madman.
5. He can eat cheese. And watermelon. Mmmmm.
6. He likes to rummage through the pots and pans cupboard, throw everything out, and then crawl away.
7. Dumping the dogs water on the floor before Mom can stop him is a fun game he likes to play.

Most of all, he just loves to be cute. :)

Can you feel the love??

My Dad recently gave me some old pictures of me as a baby (looking a lot like Nicolas, wow!) and also this really cute pic of me and Erik! It was so cute, I had to post it!

The other Eric in my life is on his way home from Canada right now! He was there all week fishing with his Dad and brothers. Can't wait to give him a big hug and kiss! I am sure Nic and Brody will be happy to see him too!

Go Nicolas Go!

It is only a matter of time before Nic is walking on his own. His favorite thing to do right now (other than to scare the sh** out of his mother) is to stand up at a dining room chair and then push it around the kitchen/dining area. Once he hits a wall or some other barrier, he crawls over to another chair and does it again. This kid wants to move. ALL THE TIME. I have been trying to teach him what the word "No" means. So far, if I say "No" he will stop what he is doing, look at me, smile, and continue doing what he was doing. The little bugger!!

A weighty issue

For me, losing the baby weight has been really really hard. I think I have done ok so far, but I feel like I have a long long way to go. So as of today, I really want to get serious about losing the extra pounds. I am going to dust off my treadmill, get up early, and get it done! I do run after Nic A LOT, and we do go for walks, but I need some real exercise. My goal is to lose 10 pounds by August 2nd, which will be the start of WeFest! Wish me luck! If anyone has any pointers or words of encouragement I am all ears!

Busy, busy, busy!

Summer is going by so fast! There has been so much to do and the busiest time is yet to come!

The 4th of July weekend was crazy this year! Almost the entire Casperson clan was up at the lake for the annual picnic! And there are a heck of a lot of Caspersons! Nic swam in the lake for the first time and he seemed to enjoy it. Eric put him in a little floaty, it was too cute. On Monday we went to Steve & Angie's for a little pool party and then some fireworks (all of which, according to Ang, "emit showers of sparks"). Because they were purchased at the Hudson, WI Target she had thought they would be the real deal. But alas, we had "showers of sparks". But they were lovely and loud and the boys liked them so that's all that mattered!

We skipped the 4th of July fireworks in Elk River this year. Way past Nic's bedtime. But we did see some from our deck! We never realized how loud our neighborhood can get on the 4th!

On Thursday, Nicolas and I went to Stillwater to visit with my mom. We went to Brine's for lunch and then took Nic to Teddy Bear Park. What a nice playground! Nic had a lot of fun! He especially liked watching the older kids running around. After the park we headed over to the river to sit in the shade and relax a bit. It was a beautiful day!

Next up on the summer schedule: Eric's Canada trip, Eric's Florida trip, Wefest for Yvonne, 5 days up at the cabin in August(ahhhhh), Dixie Chicks concert, State Fair!, and then it's September already! And Nic will soon be ONE! Where oh where does the time go??

My not so secret crush........

While watching reruns of 'The Office' this evening I have to admit that I have a HUGE crush on John Krasinski, the actor who plays Jim. Not sure why, he is just so damn cute!! Eric can't be jealous though because I know he is love with Scarlett Johansson. :)
