Take me out(side) to the ballgame!

On Sunday Eric and I took Nic to his first Twins Game! What a good time he had! He was so busy looking around the dome and smiling at all the people! He was really good. The only sucky thing about going to the game was the weather. It was such a nice day out and we spent most of it indoors!! It will be so nice when the new stadium opens and we can sit outside. But until then you grab a beer, a dome dog, and make the best of it! Go Twins!

Happy Father's Day!!

What a nice day for my honey's first official Father's Day! We went to the Olive Garden with my Dad and had a really good lunch, then went back to his place and relaxed a bit. We got my Dad a shirt from the Uff Da Shop that says "Genuine Swede" on it and Nic got him a picture frame that says "Grandpas are Dads that get promoted" with his cute little mug in it. Eric got some good stuff from his little boy, wife and dog too! But the best present he could ever have is our little Nicolas. Eric is such a wonderful daddy! He takes such good care of his little boy. Nic is a lucky little guy to have a daddy like him! And I am a lucky girl to have a Dad like mine too!

I love you Dad!
I love you Eric!
I hope you both had a Happy Father's Day!

I say Tart, you say Torte

Browsing through the toy section at Target today, I noticed the new updated Strawberry Shortcake dolls sitting on the shelf. There they all were, (with longer hair and hipper clothes mind you) Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Meringue and Raspberry Tart. But wait, it seems they have changed my favorite childhood doll Raspberry Tart's name to Raspberry Torte. Hmmm. Do you think they thought "Tart" sounded a little "tarty" and decided to change the name? Surprising what with all the tarty Bratz dolls out there selling like mad. I guess they didn't want anyone to mix the two up huh?

Ahhhhhhhh......Relaxation!

On Friday, Eric and I dropped off Nic and Brody and went to Red Wing for a much needed mini vacation! We started our trip with a little lunch. At White Castle!! We had not been there since our living on the East Side, closing down the bar days. The restaurant was completely remodeled but the burgers were just like old times. :) After lunch we headed somewhere a little more sophisticated. The Alexis Bailly Winery in Hastings for their June open house and wine tasting. It was rainy and cold outside so we didn't get to walk the grounds, but inside the wines were great and the live piano music was lovely to listen to. We met the owner Nan Bailly. She was very sweet and even recommended a great restaurant, Staghead, to eat at in Red Wing. After we left the winery we headed out to Treasure Island Casino to do a little gamblin'! We left with twenty extra bucks in Eric's wallet and headed over to our hotel, The St. James. Our room was beautiful! Antique furnishings and a HUGE bathroom with a whirlpool tub. A big THANK YOU to Eric's friend Travis and Travis' dad for hooking us up! For dinner we headed over to the Staghead a block from the hotel. The food was really good. Eric had steak (surprise, surprise) and I had shrimp scampi. We would definitely go back there again. After a little shopping we went back to the hotel and spent a couple hours up in the lounge where we had a few drinks and listened to some good live music. After a fabulous nights rest (we slept until 8:30!!) we went to some antique shops. Eric likes to buy old, kitschy beer/drink glasses. For example, he bought a Schmidt's glass with a handle that says "I HAVE A HANDLE ON DRINKING". The buffett at the casino was our last stop of the day, and then it was time to go on home to our little boy (and Brody dog too!).

Thanks for the great trip honey! I love you!

Happy Father's Day Rick (a little early!)

Saturday was a beautiful sunny day, and we spent it celebrating Father's Day with the Caspersons! Eric's Dad Rick will be fishing in Canada on the actual day, so we needed to get together a bit early. What a fun day! Rick and Jan had the kiddie pool set up for the kiddies and they had a great time. Nic was a bit hesitant to go into the water, it wasn't until the end of the day and he was dressed and ready to go home that he decided it would be fun to splash in the water. Needless to say, he was soaked. But he had fun, that's all that matters!

This Friday Eric and I are going to drop the little one off at Grandpa Rick and Grandma Jan's and go to Red Wing for the night! It will be nice to get away even for just a little bit and spend some time alone together. We don't get to do that much anymore!

Ain't it the truth?
